Organised by HIP Magazine, a publication targeting plumbing and heating colleges in the UK, ‘HIP Meet the Lecturers 2022’ is the main event series of the year, bringing together P&H manufacturers and academia. RWC was among the likes of Baxi, and Geberit to attend at this year’s event.

Held at six college venues throughout the country from late January to early March 2022, each session saw lecturers engaging with plumbing and heating manufacturers, such as RWC, where they had the opportunity to learn more about the latest product innovations and further strengthen relationships with the industry.

The ‘HIP Meet the Lecturers 2022’ event series was great for RWC to once more introduce their family of brands to the plumbing & heating academic community, as well as highlighting their latest innovation – Reliance Valves with Speedfit connections. RWC’s team of Technical Sales Engineers were also able to physically demonstrate the features and benefits of some of the business’ flagship products, giving technical insight and best installation practice advice. And with such knowledge and expertise then passed onto the lecturers’ students, this activity was indeed rewarding.

The first event was held at Bridgwater & Taunton College on Tuesday, 18th January 2022, where Andy Geroge, RWC’s Technical Sales Engineer (TSE) South, kickstarted the company’s representation at the series. Andy said, “There were many positives to be had from the day; the HIP Magazine team were extremely supportive and the interaction with the college lecturers was incredibly productive. This will lead to further relationships with the colleges moving forward and I also found the presentation to be a fantastic way to encourage constructive feedback for all RWC products.”

RWC’s TSE teams enjoyed a great reception from the lectures with many of them highlighting how insightful and engaging the sessions have been. Heather Thorp, Business Development Manager for HIP Magazine said, “It was an absolute pleasure meeting all of RWC’s presenters during the recent HIP Meet the Lecturers sessions for 2022. Throughout the six regional events, the presenters collectively met over 60 lecturers from colleges and training providers across the UK, and they all showed lots of interest and engagement in RWC’s presentation as they are keen to update their own product knowledge, which in turn they pass onto their own student/apprentice plumbers and heating installers. We’re delighted that RWC are standing with HIP to help support and encourage the next generation".

Such involvement with the academia is not new to RWC, with the business having supported colleges throughout the years with in-class best practice installation demonstrations, product samples, literature and more. RWC believe that such knowledge sharing is helping solve the industry-wide skills shortage, where the next generation of plumbers are exposed to the best and most efficient installation practices while still in training.
