RWC partners with Harlington School

RWC proudly announces their partnership with Harlington School, which is close by to their West Drayton site. Dedicated to inclusivity and helping the community, RWC is looking forward to working with the school to invest in students and to help build a potential future talent pipeline through the many activities they have planned.

Harlington School appointed RWC’s EMEA Financial Controller, Simon Curry, as school governor, they suggested it would be beneficial for someone with specific financial skills be appointed. Among Simon’s responsibilities are reviewing school management proposals, ensuring key financial controls are in place, and providing financial advice to ultimately help make decisions.

Similarly, to RWC, Harlington school has a diverse demographic, highlighting the value and promotion of diversity, inclusion and innovation. Working with local schools will help RWC achieve their goal of giving people opportunities, regardless of their background.

As part of the key initiatives of the partnership, RWC looks to motivate and support students through relevant ERG (Employee resource groups) members (South Asian Association, Women's Network, and Future @ RWC). The program also provides job placement opportunities with apprenticeships, as well as CV writing, personal statement writing, job application review, and interview preparation coaching.

The project has been an enormous success so far and in March 3 16-year-old pupils from Harlington School carried out work experience on the RWC site. RWC had the opportunity to share their expertise with the students, to help them gain an understanding of the business and show what opportunities may be available to them in the future. They were provided with an introduction to RWC and spent time throughout the week in different departments to learn how they each contribute to the success of the company.

RWC also supported Harlington school with their participation in the Outward Bound Trust Rising Aspirations Program where 48 pupils chosen by the school to take part in this initiative. RWC provided ambassadors to assist with the program which took place earlier this year. Outward Bound Trust is an educational charity that empowers young people to overcome obstacles through outdoor learning and adventures. As ambassadors, RWC played a critical role in assisting the young people in connecting what they learned on the course with skills they will need in the future. This initiative encourages students to believe in their own abilities and strengths outside of the classroom.
